Student of the Month: March 2026 Edition
March is a month for good luck and, indeed, we feel so lucky to have this student of the month as part of our community. Get ready to feel inspired!
Keri Piehl
Keri is a former educator and the current owner of Color Wheel Toys, a local Albuquerque toy store. This crafty, biking, walking, community-involved traveler is an expert in all things joyful. Keri started taking drum lessons in 2024, with two goals in mind. Learning the drums was something she had always wanted to attempt. On top of that, she was curious about exploring the mechanics of how she learns new skills.
Keri is drawn to the rhythm of the drums and feels that her childhood tap and jazz dance lessons are circling back as she navigates the physical aspects of playing the drums. She has found drum lessons to be a fun and low-pressure way to keep learning, growing, and challenging herself as an adult.
Ken Broyles loves Keri’s curiosity and commitment to growth. Ken says, “She is remarkably determined and consistent. Probably the best student I've ever had in terms of independent study and curiosity. She has also worked hard to push through anxiety and perfectionism and to just embrace mistakes. I feel fortunate to be her teacher.”
