Student of the Month: July 2026 Edition

Isaac Pasi

Isaac Pasi is a budding drummer taking lessons with our own Ricardo Sanchez here at Rock 101! He has been learning drums since last July, exploring different drum beats and songwriting, and what it means to be part of a band outside of his private lessons. He enjoys his lessons with Mr. Ricardo and expresses how valued his positive energy is in their lessons! This energy not only creates a comfortable learning environment but also aids him in his exploration of new drum beats and new songs! He is currently learning the drum beat for “Starry Sky,” a song suggested by his Mom, and he is thrilled to continue exploring different genres of music, such as Jazz and Rock!

Isaac shared his emerging band project with his friends, where he helps write original music and share his drum talents. The band is called “MICW,” using the first letter of each of his bandmates’ names! This band is new, though it is filled with passionate musicians, including Isaac, who is interested in developing songwriting skills as well as knowledge surrounding what it means to be in a band!

Isaac has had a nice experience at Rock 101 and has shared how he looks forward to his lessons with Ricardo. He explained how exciting the in-person lessons are as he is able to use a real drumset as opposed to his electric drumset at home! Both sets are fun to play with, but the real set used for lessons has a more authentic feel, where he can practice techniques such as drum rolls that are more difficult on an electric set.

Mr. Ricardo shares that Isaac has all the qualities of a great student. He is very respectful, a really good listener, and he never wastes time doing or talking about things that are unrelated to the subject matter of music and drumming. Isaac is also a fast learner, and Ricardo usually never needs to repeat himself! Ricardo can tell Isaac enjoys drumming and feels excited to watch him learn new rhythms. He is a joy to work with.
