Student of the Month: May 2025 Edition
Our May Students of the Month are two fearless drummers who are here to play loud and have fun. Read on!
Odin Zaleski
Odin is a 7-year-old drummer who lives not only with siblings and parents but also with two cats, five dogs, and several fish. A baseball player who recently scored his first homerun, Odin is all about hitting, whether it’s baseballs or drums. He loves playing the drums because they are LOUD and so much fun. Currently working on Smells Like Teen Spirit by Nirvana, Odin prefers music genres with a nice, strong beat.
Although he has been taking drum lessons for less than a year, Allison is amazed with Odin’s quick progress. Says Allison: “Odin is simply a natural. It is clear as day that he is in his element when playing music. He picks things up lightning fast. Even when he's working on something challenging, he doesn't give up until he can not only play it successfully, but groove and be free with it too. He also likes to laugh at himself when he makes mistakes and it's hilarious. He always makes playing music fun, and it inspires me.”
From cracking hilarious jokes to holding down two different beats between his right and left hands, Odin is here to stay and we’re loving it!
Martin Berard
The first thing you should know about Martin comes to us directly from his drum instructor Brandon: “He always comes in with a smile. He has such a bright energy he carries in and out of each lesson that it reminds me how great life is!”
In the past, Martin experimented with learning piano and guitar, but never really enjoyed either. When he finally tried drums, he knew it was the thing for him! He enjoys the rhythm of the instrument and has so much FUN in the learning process. Brandon enjoys his time with Martin and is impressed with his dedication. “He always shows up to the next lesson mastering what he learned in the previous lesson and is always wanting to learn more!”
When Martin is not playing drums, you will probably find him outdoors. He loves hiking and is known for having an uncanny sense of direction. He also enjoys swimming, diving, and biking. He is a fearless adventurer and an animal lover. We can’t wait to see what comes next!
