He likes collaborating with friends and local musicians, and has experience in folk, jazz, rock, rap, electronic music, and more. He is currently a member of the local bands Eileen & the In-Betweens, Brush Strokes, and Ugly Robot, with whom he is honing his songwriting and showmanship abilities.
Alex McMahon // Guitar | Bass | Mandolin | Slide Guitar
For the last 25 years I have played guitar. Beyond being a constant creative and emotional outlet, music has been the absolute center of my life for most of my time here and a constant source of momentum and insight. I currently play in an ever-growing list of bands, though the two most constant are GRAL Brothers and The Handsome Family. Recording, composing and experimenting with sounds also fills my time whenever I am not touring, teaching at Rock 101 and UNM and/or general contracting work. For me, music is dependent on balance, patience, commitment and authenticity. My approach to teaching is to not only empower my students through music but also to encourage the development of their individual voices and creative endeavors. Rock 101 is a standing example of the community that is possible through music and I truly feel honored to be a part of it.

Greg was the drummer, harmonica player, and recording engineer for local trio, Wildewood. Greg currently plays with Le Chat Lunatique, Free Fall, and an assortment of local songwriters. Some of Greg's biggest influences include the drummers Brian Blade, Jay Bellerose, and harmonica players Sonny Boy Williamson, and Junior Wells.

On the industry side of the Music Business, Emmanuel has worked in Artist Relations and Production Coordination for events such as the Gretna Heritage and Arts Festival, Jazzfest, Voodoofest, Buku, in addition to many others.
His curriculum utilizes a balance of music theory, repertoire construction, and improvisational technique to develop each individual’s love and knowledge of all genres of music. Emmanuel works to ensure that students are engaged by learning songs within their musical tastes, whilst still earning the essentials of music theory. Emmanuel’s strong background in Jazz and Blues Rock performance in addition to Festival and Event Production brings a unique element to Rock 101 NM.
Shaun Hettinger // Piano | Vocals
After 17 years of playing keys & often singing lead vocals in NYC and LA bands, Shaun relocated to Albuquerque in 2016 where he spends most of his time composing & producing music for film and tv projects - including the Netflix, Chelsea Handler theme.
Still releasing original electro-pop music under the name MEMORYY, Shaun won the New Mexico Music Award for “Best Pop Album” in 2017, has garnered press from the likes of NYLON & The Huffington Post, and his most recent album debuted at #62 on iTunes’ Dance Chart.
When not writing or playing music, Shaun enjoys consuming large quantities of mint chocolate chip ice cream, playing with his 1 year old son & cheering on the Philadelphia Eagles.
Wyatt Granger // Bass | Guitar | Vocals | Piano
Wyatt is a multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, philosopher, and madman who has been active musically for over a decade when he first picked up Bass at the age of 14. Since he first started playing, Wyatt has been apart of over 10 bands, featured on a variety of recordings as a "hired gun", and has released multiple albums and EPs. Currently he is in the hard rock duo MountainHead, the songwriter project Rue Badly, and is the bassist for indie-soul group Eugene.
He graduated at UNM where he studied Music Composition and Theory under Composers Karola Obermuller and Peter Gilbert, as well as studying Songwriting under Kristina Jacobson-Bia and David Bashwiner (of Cactus Tractor fame). Wyatt's approach to teaching includes the philosophy of music, developing skill sets through a process of flexible repetition, and trying to illuminate meaning in one's life through the artistic process. While just having a ridiculous amount of fun with it, of course.
Dustin Harvey // Guitar
Dustin is a local self-taught musician and guitarist, since the age of 13, playing in bands with close friends throughout his high school and college years. As an instructor, Dustin aims to instill a deeper connection, love, and curiosity for music in every student while cultivating their individual ability, musicality, and "feel" for the music they're interested in producing. When not plunging, head-first, down the rabbit hole of music, he spends his time with his dog Heidi, playing games (of all varieties), drawing, reading, snowboarding, hiking, watching movies, and hanging out with friends. Now part of the Rock 101 crew, he couldn't be happier getting to share his passion with others.
